This chart depicts Kansas crude oil production by year from 1981 through 2017 in thousand barrels per day.

From 1981 through 2017 Kansas field production of crude oil averaged 129.35 thousand barrels per day, down from its heyday in the mid-80’s averaging close to 200 thousand barrels per day. Crude production in Kansas bottomed out in 1999 at 80 KBPD.

The early 2000’s saw production remaining flat at around 93 thousand barrels per day until 2007 when production reached 100 thousand barrels per day for the first time since 1997.

From 2005 through 2014, production in Kansas experienced an increase each year topping out in 2014 at 136 thousand barrels per day and has seen a decline each year since, averaging only 97 thousand barrels per day in 2017.
